Georgia Ashforth, 83, Of Greenwich
GREENWICH, Conn. – Georgia Perkins Ashforth, a longtime resident of Greenwich, died Sunday, March 12. She was 83.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Peirce Perkins, Jr. and Virginia Miller Perkins. She graduated from The Bryn Mawr School where she was a talented athlete and president of the school during her senior year. She graduated from Vassar College in 1954.

DARIEN, Conn. – Joan Grace LaBanca, a longtime resident of Darien and Jupiter, FL, died Thursday, March 10. She was 86.
Born on October 1, 1929, in Suffern, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Emma Meffert. After graduating from Spring Valley High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University, her career began at the WR Grace & Company as an Executive Assistant to Peter Grace. FAIR LAWN, N.J. – Frederick W. Backmann, a resident of Fair Lawn, died Tuesday, March 15. He was 88.
Born and raised in Union City, he resided in Fair Lawn for 45 years. He served with the U.S. Navy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from New York University. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Glen Rock. Prior to retiring in 1983, he was an accountant with Colgate Palmolive in New York City for many years.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – James Edward Oram, a resident of Fairfield, died Sunday, March 13. He was 90.
He was born in Fredonia, Kan. to Ralph and Edna Oram.
He served in the Army during World War II in Europe earning the Purple Heart.
Following the war, he attended the University of Kansas, graduating in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in engineering. WEST HARRISON, N.Y. – Silvio Gizzo, a resident of West Harrison, died Monday, March 14. He was 83.He was born Oct. 21, 1932, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy to Filomena and Pasquale Gizzo.
He owned his own landscaping business for more than 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered with the St. Anthony Dad's Club, the Festa procession and Nativity committees.

GARFIELD, N.J. – Theodore Joseph Bamber, a resident of Garfield, died Friday, March 4. He was 34.He was born Aug. 16, 1981 in Atlantic City.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Bamber; his children, Leah Bamber, Jacob Bamber, Dylan Bamber and Nicole Bamber; his sisters, Virginia Bamber and Teresa Bamber; and many extended family.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Gretna Fire Department, 5 N. Maple Ave., New Gretna.

MT. KISCO, N.Y. – Edwin John Alban, a resident of Mount Kisco, died Monday, March 14. He was 84.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1931, to John and Claire Alban in Queens.
He served in the Air Force from 1951-53. After his military service, he joined the U.S. Postal Service in Mount Kisco, where he worked for 31 years. He then worked for Weber Systems for 15 years and then five years as a school crossing guard.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the American Legion Post 136.

Edith Klinghoffer Pellenberg, 87, Of Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. – Edith Klinghoffer Pellenberg, a resident of Norwalk, died Monday, March 14. She was 87.
She was born March 6, 1929 in New York, N.Y. to the late Aaron and Anna Spivak Klinghoffer. She grew up in the Bronx and was later a Norwalk resident for 55 years. She was employed over 20 years by the Norwalk School system, working with the hearing impaired and as an assistant librarian both there and for the Norwalk Public Library. She also volunteered at the library and hospital in Norwalk and was a dedicated life-member in Hadassah.
