Norman A. Tardiff, 101, Of Wappinger WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- Norman A. Tardiff, a resident of Wappinger, died Wednesday, April 27. He was 101.He was born Feb.9, 1915, in Westport, Mass., to Peter and Anna Lefebre Tardiff. He had been a resident of Wappinger since 1946 and formerly lived in Scotland, Conn. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, attaining the rank of captain, and served in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Chelsea Yacht Club since 1968 and was club historian for 12 years. He sailed extensively on the Hudson, the Sound and Narragansett Bay. He was born Sept. 23, 1931, to Ernest and Ethel (Boughton) Purdy. He graduated from White Plains High School.  Upon graduation, he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. After returning from active duty, he joined the White Plains Fire Department where he rose to the rank of lieutenant and remained with the department for 34 years.
