Norman A. Tardiff, 101, Of Wappinger
WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- Norman A. Tardiff, a resident of Wappinger, died Wednesday, April 27. He was 101.He was born Feb.9, 1915, in Westport, Mass., to Peter and Anna Lefebre Tardiff.
He had been a resident of Wappinger since 1946 and formerly lived in Scotland, Conn. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, attaining the rank of captain, and served in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Chelsea Yacht Club since 1968 and was club historian for 12 years. He sailed extensively on the Hudson, the Sound and Narragansett Bay. William M. Purdy, 84, Of White Plains
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- William M. Purdy, a lifelong resident of White Plains, died Wednesday, April 27. He was 84.
He was born Sept. 23, 1931, to Ernest and Ethel (Boughton) Purdy.
He graduated from White Plains High School.
Upon graduation, he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. After returning from active duty, he joined the White Plains Fire Department where he rose to the rank of lieutenant and remained with the department for 34 years. While in his tenure as a firefighter, he received the Medal of Honor for bravery.
He married Doris Mozzone in 1955.

PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Robert Linton, a resident of Purchase and Manhattan, died Tuesday, April 26. He was 90.
He was born on May 19,1925, in New York City, to Helen and Adolph Lichtenstein, a specialist on the New York Stock Exchange.
During his senior year at Phillips Exeter Academy, he enlisted in the Army, eventually serving in World War II as a navigator and bombardier. He achieved the rank of second lieutenant in the Army Air Force. In 1946, he joined Burnham & Co., a small investment bank as the eighth employee, starting as a runner delivering stock certificates around Wall Street. …

WOODCLIFF, N.J. -- Nina C. Pearson, a resident of Woodcliff Lake, died Sunday, April 24. She was 66.She was an English as a second language teacher for 25 years, retiring in 2015, from the Hillsdale and Old Tappan Public School systems.
She is survived by her brothers Nils Pearson and his wife, Ann, and Fred Pearson.
Visitation is from 4-6 p.m., on Wednesday, April 27, at the Robert Spearing Funeral Home, Inc., 155 Kinderkamack Rd., Park Ridge. Private family interment.

MAHWAH, N.J. -- Cornelius Verblaauw, a resident of Mahwah, died Sunday, April 24. He was 79.Born in Paterson, he lived in Mahwah for the past 26 years.
He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church, in Clifton, N.J. Before his retirement in 2001, he was a carpenter who owned and operated C. Verblaauw and Sons in Mahwah.
