RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Dorothy Wilma Lewerenz, of Rutherford, died on Friday, Dec. 9. She was 83. She was born on Feb. 10, 1933 in Boston, Massachusetts to Captain Ernest August Max Lewerenz and Hazel Sylvester Park Lewerenz. She was raised in Boston and Rutherford. She earned an associate’s degree from Green Mountain College in Vermont and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Columbia University in New York City. She graduated with a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She was proud of the German heritage she received from her parents, Mathilda and Henry Schreiner. She grew up in the Bronx, surrounded by a wonderful family with strong ties that continue to this day. She attended Christopher Columbus High School and later graduated from NYU. She met her future husband Stephen in a ski club and they quickly fell in love and settled down in Poughkeepsie to make their family.
