Westport Cops: Homeless Man Breaking Into Car Hides From Police WESTPORT, Conn. — Westport police arrested a homeless man on several charges Friday after he was seen breaking into a car, police said. Around 4:30 a.m., a Woodside Avenue homeowner confronted a man later identified as Darius McCallop, 32, who was breaking into his car, police said. McCallop fled towards Kings Highway North. Westport Cops: Housesitter From Stratford Found With Pot, Mushrooms, Pills WESTPORT, Conn. — A Stratford man was arrested on a warrant Tuesday after police found him with prescription and illegal drugs while he was house sitting in Westport in April, police said. Joshua Lindwall, 32, of East Main Street, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, police said. He was held on $10,000 bond and is expected in court on Aug. 18. Fairfield Woman Injured When Tree Crashes Down On House FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield woman was injured early Thursday when a large tree fell on her Pellmeadow Drive home. Fire officials were called to the home around 6:18 a.m. There they found a large tree had done significant structural damage to the house. Emergency personnel removed the woman and treated her injuries before transporting her to a local hospital. “While there were injuries and significant damage to the home, this situation could have been much worse,” said Assistant Chief Schulyer Sherwood. Driver, 21, Charged After Fleeing Police, Causing Fatal Crash In Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A woman is dead and two pedestrians were “severely injured” Thursday after a driver fled from a State Trooper on Interstate 95 and sped down Bridgeport streets, causing a fatal crash, police said. Fairfield Police: Loaded Gun Stolen In Fitness Center Larceny FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A man armed with bolt cutters on Wednesday stole items from padlocked lockers at The Edge Fitness Center, including a loaded Glock 43 9mm handgun in a backpack, police said. Police released surveillance photos of the suspect, who entered the Kings Highway Cutoff gym in the evening. Police said four lockers were entered.
