After the police found no corroborating evidence of the incident, the Bridgeport woman retracted her story, police said. On Aug. 20, the Short Beach Park Commission and Friends of Short Beach will unveil new Mobi-mat beach access mats that allow people who would otherwise have difficulty maneuvering in the sand to stroll down to the shore with ease.
