Fairfield Cops: Neighbor's Rant Scares Off Would-Be Bike Thieves FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Shoreham Village Drive neighbors took matters into their own hands Friday evening when one saw three young teens steal another’s bike, police said. Around 6 p.m., one woman saw the three kids, who appeared to be around 13, drop a small bike on a neighbor’s lawn and make off with an orange Mongoose bike valued at $275, police said. Doggone It: Police Charge Woman With Letting Mastiff Roam -- Again FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield woman who routinely lets her Italian mastiff roam is facing new charges after the dog growled and barked at a woman walking her dog on a leash Saturday, police said. Catherine Joyce, 46, of Edgewood Place, was issued a misdemeanor summons for animal nuisance, second offense, and allowing a dog to roam after the 2:45 p.m. incident, police said. Westport Police: Caught With Pot, Norwalk Man Leads Officer On Chase WESTPORT, Conn. — A Norwalk man who sped away from officers during a May traffic stop turned himself in Friday on several charges, police said. Around 10 p.m. on May 24, an officer saw a red Ford Explorer run through a stop sign at Old Hill and Patrick roads and stopped the vehicle, police said. The driver, Kyle Cichowicz, 25, of Wolfpit Avenue, seemed nervous and the officer could smell the strong odor of marijuana in the car, police said. Fairfield Explorers Gain Experience, Awards At Cadet Academy FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fifteen Fairfield Police Explorers attended the 2017 Cadet Police Academy in July, with four coming home with awards for their performance and talent. A total of 350 cadets and 90 police officers and staff from Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts attended the weeklong academy, a comprehensive and challenging experience in law enforcement and modern-day police work. Westport Assistant Chief Returns From Battling Wildfires In Idaho, Montana WESTPORT, Conn. — The Westport Fire Department recently welcomed home Assistant Chief Michael Kronick, who spent more than two weeks fighting wildfires in Idaho and Montana. Kronick was deployed with the White Mountain National Forest Fire Crew #1 on July 16. He was one of six members of the Connecticut Interstate Fire Crew, which is part of the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Police: Westport Man Found With Heroin On Post Road East WESTPORT, Conn. — A Westport man stopped for running a red light on Post Road East on Thursday morning now faces a drug charge, police said. An officer stopped Michael Gonzales, 32, of Main Street, around 8:30 a.m. because he failed to stop for a red light at Post Road East and Parker Harding Plaza, police said. Westport Police: Northford Woman Found With Heroin In Train Lot WESTPORT, Conn. — A Northford woman was arrested on drug charges Sunday, when she was found with 12 baggies of heroin, a syringe and a needle in a Saugatuck train station parking lot, police said.
