Bear Sighting Prompts Safety Tips From Fairfield Police FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fairfield Animal Control recently received a report of two bears seen in the north end of town, prompting Fairfield police to reminds residents of safety tips and ask the public to report any future sightings. One medium-sized black bear was spotted Saturday behind a Quail Run Road home. It moved very slowly, wasn’t afraid of people and was chased off by an animal control officer. Fairfield Cops: Woman Tried To Steal More Than $1,000 In Clothing At Kohl's FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield woman was arrested Saturday night for attempting to steal $1,120 in clothing from Kohl’s, police said. Shortly before 9 p.m., employees noticed Josephine Lawrence-Lewis, 54, of Park Terrace, attempting to conceal the clothes in reusable bags she had brought to the store with her, police said. Lawrence-Lewis was charged with fourth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in is court on Sept. 6.

Laurie Savage, 54, of Farmington Ave., put the items in a shopping cart and attempted to leave the Tunxis Hill Road store without paying around 2:30 p.m., police said.
