Brookfield Man Charged With Using Counterfeit Currency
BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- A Brookfield man was charged with using counterfeit money to purchase video game equipment, according to The News-Times. Aaron Coderre, 25, was charged with felony criminal possession of a forged instrument and a misdemeanor count of petit larceny for purchasing XBox equipment in Southeast, N.Y. Weston Group Seeks Dog Park
WESTPORT, Conn. -- A committee consisting of a dozen dog owners has formed to build a dog park in Weston, according to The Weston Forum. Committee chairman Maria Proto reportedly came up with the idea after realizing dog owners don't have a local place in Weston to let their dogs run without a leash, The Weston Forum reported. New Rochelle Installs Cameras At Traffic Lights
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle has installed three red-light cameras that will go live in mid-April, according to lohud.com. The cameras are at the intersections of North and Lincoln avenues, Main Street and North Avenue, and Main Street and Weyman Avenue, reported lohud.com. The number of cameras will increase to a dozen after an initial period of evaluation, said lohud.com. Sheep-To-Shawl Kicks Off Spring At Sleepy Hollow's Philipsburg Manor
SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- The Sheep-to-Shawl Festival will kick off Historic Hudson Valley's spring season at Philipsburg Manor on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17. Winds Result In Downed Trees, Wires
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The Ramapo Police Department responded to numerous downed trees and wires throughout town Sunday. Trees and wires were down throughout Ramapo due to the high winds that moved through the area earlier this morning. Summit Park Rd. between Sandy Brook Dr. and Sanitorium Rd. is closed due a fallen tree that damaged a utility pole. Orange and Rockland crews are working to repair the damage.

POMONA, N.Y. -- Hi Tor Animal Care Center's Pet of the Week is Lulu, a 3-year-old German shorthaired pointer mix. Lulu comes across as shy initially but opens after getting the chance to know someone. She gets along with other dogs and cats. Due to her calm, loving nature and love for exercise and walks, the center says she would do best at a home with older kids. Culinary Institute Of America In Hyde Park Brews Hands-On Beer Course
HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park has a new hands-on Art and Science of Brewing class. Bachelor's degree students learn how to brew beer and incorporate local ingredients and flavors. The beers are served on the CIA campus. The CIA opened a brewery on campus in partnership with Brooklyn Brewery. New York was formerly known as the world's hops capital and is currently a leader in the craft brewing movement after the passage of the Farm Breweries bill of 2012. Millbrook Students Benefit Literary Connections At Community Spelling Bee
MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- Juniors Jen Hughes, Laura Toland and Tess Toland represented Millbrook School at the 25th annual community spelling bee on March 29. Thirty-five schools participated in the spelling bee, which consisted of eight rounds, at Marist College. Millbrook did not take home the top prize but competed in the finals. The bee benefited Literacy Connections, a nonprofit that trains volunteers to teach Hudson Valley children and adults how to read.
