Fairfield Police Officer Wins K9 Equipment Grant
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield police officer Kevin Wells and his partner K9 Jagger recently won a $500 K9 equipment grant. Superior K9 Services posted pictures of teams training in their Canines Under Superior Training and Outstanding Municipalities program to its Facebook page, and awarded the grant to the pictured team with the most likes. Wells and Jagger received more than 1,300 likes.

Baldanza Soup Kitchen In New Canaan Helps Connecticut Food Bank
NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Angela and Sandy Baldanza have launched the new Baldanza Soup Kitchen line of natural soups, and a portion of proceeds will benefit the Connecticut Food Bank. The Baldanza Soup Kitchen line features natural ingredients and will sell in area markets. Two percent of proceeds will support the services and programs of the Connecticut Food Bank. Buses Will Replace Trains On Metro-North's Danbury Branch
DANBURY, Conn. -- Metro-North Railroad will be running substitute bus service for Danbury Branch customers between Danbury and South Norwalk on weekends in April. Substitute bus service will occur from Friday evenings through Sundays on April 1 to 3, April 8 to 10, April 15 to 17 and April 22 to 24 due to track crossing work at various locations, Metro-North said. Buses will run about 15 minutes earlier than scheduled trains. Commuters are advised to listen for announcements and check local or express service to their destination while boarding. Stratford Restaurant Week Returns For Third Year
STRATFORD, Conn. -- The third annual Stratford Restaurant Week will present dining specials and prix fixe menus from April 3-9. Diners that order a restaurant week menu item from a participating establishment will draw a random card from the special Town of Stratford deck. The card is then recorded on each participant's score card. The participants with the best five-card poker hands will receive first-, second- and third-place prizes.
