Bethel Pulls Out The Stops For P.T. Barnum Birthday Bash BETHEL, Conn. -- Bethel Historical Society will celebrate P.T. Barnum's 206th Birthday with the annual Crazy-Beautiful-Awesome-Spectacular Hat Day and Cacophony Orchestra on Tuesday, July 5.  Participants are invited to bring a top hat, snack on top-hat cake and bring a musical instrument for a birthday march up and down Greenwood Avenue.  Bethel was the hometown of P.T. Barnum, an entrepreneur, philanthropist, newspaper publisher and showman co-founded the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Bethel Library's Great Barnum statue.
