Lodi Residents: Still Time To Join Community Flea Market
LODI, N.J. -- Residents can turn their unwanted goods into extra cash by taking part in Lodi's first community flea market Saturday, Oct. 29. The flea market is in place of the town wide garage sale. The event runs 10 a.m.-3 p.m.in the Borough Hall Parking Lot, 1 Memorial Drive. Cost is $10 for a 10-by-10 space; $20 for a 10-by-20 space. Click here for an application. FORT LEE, N.J. -- Happy birthday to Fort Lee's Joyce Brothers (Oct. 20, 1927 – May 13, 2013).The popular psychologist, TV advice star and syndicated columnist would have turned 89 on Thursday. She lived in Fort Lee for over 40 years and worked from her home office there, spinning daily advice columns from 1960 until her death. Brothers first gained fame in 1955 answering questions on the topic of boxing on the television show, "The $64,000 Question." She was the only woman, and the second person ever, to win the top prize. The film “Racing Extinction” by Oscar-winning director Louie Psihoyos ("The Cove") utilized state-of-the-art equipment to expose never-before-seen images. Oradell Little League Seeks Volunteers For Field Renovation
ORADELL, N.J. -- Residents are asked to batter-up and pitch-in to give Oradell's Caruso Field a long overdue renovation. The Caruso Project will begin on Saturday, Nov. 5, about a year after the successful facelift of Muehleck Field. Since Caruso is larger, the Oradell Little League board is asking participants to set aside Saturday, Nov. 12 as well. If enough volunteers sign-on to help, OLL says it might be possible to complete the project in one day. The Caruso Project is headed by Scott Bosetti, who led the Meuhleck renovation in 2015. Bergen County students with disabilities can participate in a unique internship program during their last year of high school at Teaneck Holy Name Medical Center and Hackensack University Medical Center. Project SEARCH is a one-year, business-led internship program that teaches students job skills that can be used in any number of careers.
