DARIEN, Conn.— Opus for Person-to-Person announces that tickets are on sale for its annual fundraiser, “The Platinum Ball: Celebrating 20 Years of Great Works”, Saturday, April 30 at Wee Burn Beach Club in Darien. Darien Adults Charged With Failing To Stop Underage Drinking Party
Update: The charges in this case have been nolled. DARIEN, Conn. -- Two Darien adults were charged by police with failing to stop minors from drinking alcohol after breaking up an underage party in their home Saturday night, reports Darien Times. Julian and Helena Tol said they didn't know at least 15 underage teens were illegally drinking alcohol in their Palmer Lane home Feb. 26 until police arrived, according to Darien Times. 'Stop Hunger Now' Meal Packing At Pascack Hills High School
MONTVALE, N.J. — Pascack Hills High School is having a meal packaging event in March. Wednesday, March 23, Stop Hunger Now is having an event at Pascack Hills High School where participants will package meals that will help to end hunger. The event will take place from 1:20- 3:20 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Stop Hunger Now hopes to package over 10,152 meals at the event that will be sent to feed people in need. Retired Rutherford Police Lt. Louis S. Eberspeacher
RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Retired Rutherford Police Lt. Det. Louis S. Eberspeacher died suddenly Feb. 27. He was born in Brooklyn to Louis and Louise Eberspeacher (nee Witkewich). He attended Fairleigh Dickerson University and later joined the Police Academy and Rutherford Police Department in 1965. He earned the title of Lieutenant in 1978. After 38 years on the job, Eberspeacher put away his uniform and retired in 2003. While on the police department, he volunteered with the Rutherford Volunteer Fire Department Engine Company 2, and in his free time enjoyed golf. He is survived by his daugh…

Possible Listeria Contamination Leads To Blue Cheese Recall
Possible listeria contamination has prompted a food company to expand its voluntary recall of “Maytag Blue” blue cheese wedges, wheels and crumbles, the FDA reports. Maytag Dairy Farms based in Iowa said no illnesses have been reported. The potential for contamination was discovered after state testing revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in two lots of products.
