RAMSEY, N.J. -- A 5K race and family fun run takes place in Ramsey on Saturday, May 7.The Ramsey Public Education Foundation invites the public to its 3rd Annual Sprint for Our Schools 5K & Family Fun Run. A 43-year-old Palisades Park man committed suicide behind a Hackensack bowling alley Thursday morning by lighting charcoal briquettes in a metal pan inside his vehicle, city police told Daily Voice. Brewster Fire Department Looking For Volunteers
BREWSTER, N.Y. -- The fire department in Brewster is looking for volunteers and recently handed out applications during a statewide drive.RecruitNY is a statewide membership drive and the Brewster Fire Department membership committee handed out applications at fire headquarters. The BFD is always looking for new members to help serve their community. The department has 130 members that responded to 1,500 calls. Woman Charged With DWI On I-287 Had BAC Twice Limit, Police Say
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police stopped to assist a possible disabled car on I-287 in Elmsford but instead found a Mount Vernon woman apparently intoxicated on April 23, police said. Asia S. Smith, 28, of Mount Vernon was transported and processed at State Police Tarrytown, where her blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.18 percent. Smith was charged with aggravated DWI and released on summonses pending a May 11 court date in Elmsford.

Westchester County Executive Meets With Mt. Vernon 'Boys To Men' Group
The Westchester County Executive recently met with 36 boys who attend a mentoring program at a Mount Vernon elementary school. Robert P. Astorino met with participants of the Boys to Men Mentoring Group at Cecil Parker Elementary School. He answered questions about everything from how county government works to why he’s a fan of the Miami Dolphins. Sergeant Michael DeLuca Retiring From East Fishkill Police Department
EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- The police department in East Fishkill announces the retirement of one of its sergeants on Friday. Sergeant Michael DeLuca retired on April 29th after nearly 22 years of service to the town. DeLuca has been a cornerstone of the department's overnight shift, working 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., for most of his career. He was promoted to sergeant in 2015 and is moving on to other ventures in his retirement life. North Haledon's Scouts Prepare For Breakfast On The Mountain
NORTH HALEDON, N.J. -- The North Haledon Boy Scouts Troop 170 and Cub Scout Pack 70 will host "Breakfast on the Mountain" at the summit of High Mountain on Saturday. The hike is approximately 3 miles and will conclude with breakfast at the summit followed by a hike back down. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended.
