Fairfield Police: Possible Car Thief Comes Up Empty-Handed FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A would-be thief broke into a Post Road car rental business early today, police said. Around 1:13 a.m., officers responded to an alarm at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where they found the lower portion of the rear glass door had been shattered, police said. The interior of the business was rummaged through and the key box on the wall was open, police said. A staff member who came to the scene found no cash missing and all of the vehicle keys accounted for in a locked safe. No vehicles were stolen. Fairfield Police alerted surrounding police departments to the incident.

State Grant Spells Big Improvements At Trumbull's Kennedy Center TRUMBULL, Conn. — The Trumbull-based Kennedy Center completed major renovations to its parking lot, sidewalks and landscaping, thanks to a $299,000 state grant. Westport Deputy Police Chief To Retire After 26 Years On The Force WESTPORT, Conn. — Deputy Police Chief Vincent Penna will retire on Oct. 1 after a “commendable and exemplary” 26-year career in law enforcement, the Westport Police Department announced Friday. Penna was hired in 1991 as a traffic agent and entered the police academy as a special officer. He became a full-time officer in 1994 and worked his way through the ranks. Fairfield Police: Man In Bathrobe Broke Into Home, Watched Girl Sleep FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A 36-year-old man wearing nothing but a bathrobe and T-shirt broke into a Tunxis Hill Road home early Friday and watched a girl sleep before her family trapped him and called 911, Fairfield police said. Shelton Police: Sleepy Man Shoots Landscapers With Pellet Gun SHELTON, Conn. — A shirtless man shot his neighbor’s landscapers with a pellet gun Thursday because he was trying to sleep and they were too noisy, police said.
