Platform To Employment Welcomes New Class Of Job-Seekers In Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — In some ways, the individuals gathered at the Burroughs Community Center in Bridgeport on Monday couldn’t have been more diverse. They hail from Greenwich, Bridgeport, Ridgefield and beyond. There was a market researcher, a landscaper, an IT professional and a special education teacher. The one thing that unites them? They have all been unemployed for a significant time — some for years — and they’re eager to get back work. And that’s why they’ve joined Platform to Employment (P2E), an innovative, five-week program that aims to get the long-term unemployed back to work…

They were joined by their daughter Kathleen. Both Kathleen and her mom had dyed their hair and painted their nails green for the event. Kathleen sported a “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” green top hat. “Eat, drink and be merry!” she said, waving at the marchers. Doze…

Stratford Celebrates St. Patrick's Day With Irish Mayor For A Day STRATFORD, Conn. — The reedy strains of a bagpipe tune hung over Stratford Town Hall on Thursday, as the town celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with music, a history lesson and the naming of the Irish Mayor for a Day, Stratford native James Connor. “It’s an honor. Cheese Company Sells Stinky Slices Of Heaven In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — To hear co-owner Laura Downey tell the story, you would think the Fairfield Cheese Company was charmed from the start. It was the height of the recession when she and business partner Chris Palumbo decided to open the specialty cheese shop in a modest Post Road storefront. “Some people thought we were a little insane,” she told a packed audience at a recent Fairfield Public Library talk. But the shop opened its doors during the height of “foodie revolution,” which champions all things local and artisanal, and at a time when Americans were turning a fresh eye toward “good…

Eighteen members of town Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops applied to be part o…
