Danbury Man Held On Shoplifting Charge In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. — A Danbury man was held on $10,000 bond after he loaded items into a Stop & Shop shopping cart and left the Post Road store without paying for them July 2, Westport police said. Miguel Marrero, 29, of Maple Avenue, was identified recently as the suspect, police said. Store security was able to see the license plate number on the gray Ford the suspect got into after leaving the store, police said. He was arrested on a warrant Aug. 10 and charged with sixth-degree larceny, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 19.

Police: Drunken Driver Charged After Hitting Moped In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. — A Westport man was charged with drunken driving late Aug. 9 after he ran into the back of a moped and injured the driver, police said. Donald Fries, 57, of Chestnut Lane, was driving on the Post Road East at about 11 p.m., when he struck the back of the moped, which was stopped at a red light, police said. The rider sustained minor injuries, police said. Field sobriety tests indicated Fries was under the influence, and a breathalyzer test given at police headquarters read .204, more than twice the legal limit, police said. Westport Police Arrest Bridgeport Woman Hiding In Attic To Avoid Capture WESTPORT, Conn. — A Westport man and a Bridgeport woman were arrested after officers found them in a Cricket Lane home with narcotics and drug paraphernalia, Westport police said. Officers had gone to the home Aug. 10 to assist in the recovery of a vehicle that was taken without the owner’s permission, police said. Bridgeport Police Release Video Of Armed Robbery At Krauszer's BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Bridgeport Police Department is looking for the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects responsible for an armed robbery just after midnight Monday at Krauszer’s Food Store on Fairfield Avenue, police said. The department released video of the incident at the Krauszer’s at 2579 Fairfield Ave. at the corner of Ellsworth Street. This is the second robbery at the store this summer. Police released a video of a similar crime that took place at about 11:15 p.m. on June 20. Anyone with information should call Detective Michael Fiumidinisi at 203-581-5246.
