Library Odor Gone, Roof Has To Wait At Shelton's Sunnyside School SHELTON, Conn. — While a much-debated roof project won’t be completed for the opening of classes this September, Sunnyside School students will be greeted with one positive note — an end to the leaks and pungent odor in the library. Danbury Man Charged In Fake Check-Cashing Scheme in Westport WESTPORT, Conn. — A Danbury man who tried to cash three fraudulent checks at a Post Road East bank was tracked down arrested in town Friday, police said. Around 4 p.m., police said Cody Tyson, 24, of Kennedy Avenue, tried to cash three checks totaling $2,670 at the Bank of America drive-up window. When confronted by police, Tyson fled and was not pursued, as he was driving recklessly, police said. His car was later found on Main Street and police found Tyson on foot on Evergreen Avenue near Compo Road North. He was also found to have three fraudulent credit cards, police said. Tyson was …

Bike Thefts Reported At Fairfield Train Stations FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fairfield Police reported three bikes stolen from the two town train stations, despite the owners claiming all were locked in place. A cyclist reported a Trek bike valued at $500 to $600 stolen from the Fairfield Metro station sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 19. A green Critical Cycle valued at $170 vanished from the downtown Fairfield station between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m the same day. A $1,000 black Giant bike was stolen from the Metro station sometime between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 20, police said.

Florida Fugitive Wanted For Armed Robbery Arrested In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- One of three suspicious persons in a Westport CVS early Tuesday morning turned out to be a fugitive from justice and suspected armed robber wanted in Florida, police said. Police were called to CVS Pharmacy on the Post Road at 2:19 a.m. on a report that a man was trying to buy multiple gift cards, but his credit card was being declined, police said. Thousands in Tools, Materials Stolen From Fairfield Construction Site FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Workers at an apartment complex being built in Fairfield near the Bridgeport border discovered about $12,000 worth of tools and materials stolen Monday morning, police said. Workers believe that sometime between 2 p.m. on Aug. 20 and 6:40 a.m. Aug 22, someone cut the lock on a door with bolt cutters and made off with the items being used at the construction site at the corner of Commerce Drive and Black Rock Turnpike, police said.

Attempted ATM Thefts Reported In Fairfield, Shelton, Westport FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fairfield police reported three attempts to steal ATMs in town, part of a spree that also extends to Westport and Shelton, police said. Thieves broke the front glass at Milk Plus on the Post Road to get in and steal the store’s ATM shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 21, police said. Police Tie Bridgeport Woman To Fairfield Hit & Run FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Bridgeport woman who police say sideswiped a car on the Post Road and fled the scene six months ago was arrested Aug. 20 in connection with the incident.
