As a parent of three daughters who have attended Fairfield Public Schools, I have come to count on Brenda as a fierce advocate for our children at the State Capitol. I first met Brenda when she was a Board of Education member and grew to admire her as she consistently did what was best for all Fairfield students, and as a parent of a …

Fairfield Letter: Hwang Listens To Constituents FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Please send your letter to fairfield@dailyvoice.com. To the Editor: This past August I attended the Forum on Insurance Rate Increases that Tony Hwang sponsored. Tony’s command of the issues and his understanding of the intricacies of this challenging health insurance environment are impressive. He truly listened to what people had to say. His honest discussion of what is broken and ideas about how to fix it were inspiring. Again Tony shows us, he is not just giving lip service to what’s important to his …

Popular Stratford Deli Moves Across Town, Fans Follow STRATFORD, Conn. — When Milanno Ukehaxhaj arrived in New York City from Kosovo in 1991, it was a Sunday afternoon and he headed straight for the Italian food mecca that is Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, N.Y. By Monday, he was back there again — because he already had a job and, it turns out, a future business partner. “I met him the first day I came in this country,” Ukehaxhaj said, wrapping an arm around Getano Catalano on Wednesday. “We used to work on Arthur Avenue together.” It was there that the pair hatched a plan to open their own business, bringing a taste of Italy up the shore to Str…

Florist Makes Happiness Bloom In Stratford With Petal It Forward Bouquets TRUMBULL, Conn. — At first, Zoeli Farkas was a little skeptical of the smiling woman who was trying to place two bouquets of flowers into his hands outside a Quality Street storefront Wednesday morning. “What’s it going to cost me?” the Fairfield man asked. Fairfield Letter: 'Donald Trump Is Our Last Chance' FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Please send your letter to fairfield@dailyvoice.com. To the Editor: I feel like Miles in the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" movie, running through speeding traffic, tossed against car windshields, desperate to warn anyone who will listen: “They’re already here, you’re next.” Things may look the same, but quietly and imperceptibly our freedoms, our security, our cultural and educational integrity and our sovereignty have been drained away. We have become powerless servants of government, media, co…
