Tiny Bridgeport Park Becomes A Boon For Black Rock BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — An underused slice of city land will be turned into a small park in Black Rock, adding another welcoming component to the area around the P.T. Barnum public housing complex. The Black Rock Neighborhood Revitalization Zone board secured $10,000 in federal block funding to spruce up the grassy area behind Stop & Shop, adding benches, grills and trash receptacles to an area that had been a gathering space for homeless people. “It should be completed by next summer,” said Stephanie Barnes, the group’s president. Fairfield Police: Pair Stole Construction Equipment To Support Drug Habits FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Stamford woman and a Bridgeport man suspected of stealing construction equipment to support their drug habits were arrested on two Fairfield warrants while they were appearing in court on separate charges Friday, police said. Amy Kiernan, 38, of Burr Street, Stamford, and Shaun Costello, 34, of Linen Avenue, Bridgeport, were each charged with fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny and criminal attempt to commit fifth-degree larceny, police said. Westport Police: Fairfield Man Struck Victim Outside Men's Shelter WESTPORT, Conn. — A Fairfield man was arrested Friday after he violated a protective order and struck a man during an argument outside the town’s emergency shelter, Westport police said. Steven Shulman, 21, of Ruane Street, met the victim in an Imperial Avenue parking lot Thursday and was standing near the victim’s car when he struck him in the face, giving him a bloody nose, police said. Fairfield Police: Bridgeport Man Stole Pregnancy Test From Drug Store FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Bridgeport man was arrested early Monday, after he attempted to return items he hadn’t paid for at Walgreens, then left the store with a stolen home pregnancy test, Fairfield police said.
