Fairfield Police: Scan It Scam Spells Arrests For Two Bridgeport Women FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Two Bridgeport women were arrested this weekend after they used hand-held self scanners to steal from two Fairfield Stop & Shops, police said. Around noon on March 3, police were called to the Stop & Shop at Kings Highway Cutoff, where a loss prevention officer said Ines Respeto, 63, of Ellsworth Street, went through the store with a device, but didn’t scan everything she had in her cart, police said. False Prescriptions In Fairfield Lead To Shelton Woman's Arrest FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Shelton woman has been charged in connection with a scheme to use falsified prescriptions to buy controlled drugs at the Walgreen’s on Kings Highway in Fairfield, police said. Cami Demace, 36, of Judson Street, was arrested on a warrant and charged with conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit obtaining a controlled substance via fraud, second-degree forgery and conspiracy to commit second-degree forgery, police said. Man, 77, Critically Injured After Being Hit By A Car In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A 77-year-old man was in critical condition at Bridgeport Hospital after he was hit by a car while trying to cross the Post Road in Fairfield Saturday evening, police said Police received several 911 calls around 6:15 p.m. when the Fairfield resident attempted to run across the street to his parked car near the Bridgeport border at Shoreham Village Drive, police said. Rising From Floods Of Sandy: Fairfield Reopening Penfield Pavilion FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The public is invited to the official ribbon-cutting and grand reopening of Penfield Pavilion in Fairfield on March 7. The pavilion, which was shuttered after it sustained major damage in Hurricane Sandy in 2012, was the center of a $7.4 million restoration project. Workers are putting the final touches on the building, which boasts new locker facilities and a newly paved parking lot. The grand reopening begins at 5 p.m. at the pavilion, 323 Fairfield Beach Road. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled to 5 p.m. March 10.

Shelton Police: Teens Arrested With Stolen Firearm From Series Of Break-ins SHELTON, Conn. — Two teenagers from Shelton and Waterbury were arrested Friday when they were found with a firearm stolen in a series of three city burglaries Thursday, police said. Nicholas Boland, 19, of Shelton, and William Kopley, 19, of Waterbury, were both arrested after they were found in a car at a gas station on the Ansonia/Seymour line. Ansonia Man Charged In Shelton Relative's Fatal Drug Overdose SHELTON, Conn. — An Ansonia man was arrested Thursday in connection with the drug overdose death of his 34-year-old relative, police said. On Dec. 9, a Shelton man was found dead in his home from an apparent overdose of heroin he had bought earlier in the day in Bridgeport, Shelton police said. The dead man’s relative, 33-year-old Justin Kevalis, was in the house during the investigation, police said.
