Shelton Man Charged In 2016 Fatal Hit & Run SHELTON, Conn. — A 25-year-old Shelton man was arrested Thursday in connection with a fatal hit and run last May, police said Thursday. Around 8:40 p.m., May 11, 2016, Shelton police received several 911 calls about a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the intersection of Howe Avenue and Hill Street. The car fled the scene south on Howe Avenue, witnesses told police. The victim, Teresa Glossy, 54, of Shelton, was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The Asylum Street transfer station will also be closed Friday, March 10, and will reopen from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 11. The Bridgeport Emergency Operation Center is monitoring the approaching storm that is anticipated to bring snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. The Party's Back On At Fairfield's Penfield Pavilion FAIRFIELD, Conn. — It wasn’t exactly a beach day, but about 100 town officials and neighbors officially opened the new Penfield Pavilion in Fairfield Tuesday, more than four years after Hurricane Sandy shut it down. The center of a controversial, $7.4 million restoration project, the new facility sports a 2,600-square-foot gathering room and a 1,500-square-foot covered deck overlooking Long Island Sound. “I learned to swim here 80 years ago and I think it’s beautiful,” said lifelong resident Lois Smith. “This is fabulous. Bridgeport Man Charged In Rash Of Commercial Break-Ins In Shelton SHELTON, Conn. — An incarcerated Bridgeport man was arrested Monday and charged in connection with three Shelton commercial burglaries in 2016, police said. Steven Carloto, 48, who was in court for similar charges, was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, criminal mischief and larceny for break-ins at Chinatown Restaurant and Shanghai Gardens Restaurant in April 2016, police said.
