Culinary Author Ruth Reichel Visits Armonk Library
ARMONK, N.Y. -- The North Castle Public Library will host an author talk with Ruth Reichl on Wednesday, May 4. Reichl is a best-selling author, food critic and judge on Bravo's "Top Chef Masters." According to The Seattle Times, she is "one of the nation's most influential figures in the food world." Chef Eric Gabrynowicz from Restaurant North will moderate the talk. The event will take place in the library's Whippoorwill Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale April 4 and will cost $25.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- A Sleepy Hollow home served as the set for various scenes from the upcoming Alec Baldwin film "Drunk Parents," according to lohud.com. The five bedroom brick colonial and exterior at 4 Westview Circle served as the home for the comedy's titular characters, played by Baldwin and Salma Hayek, lohud.com reported. "Drunk Parents" follows a wealthy family down on its luck that makes a bad decision following a drunken night, resulting in a kidnapping and serious case of mistaken identity, lohud.com said. Hunt For Easter Eggs In Yorktown's Downing Park
YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown Parks and Recreation will hold an Easter Egg Hunt at Downing Park on Saturday, March 19. Children 12 and under can hunt for colored eggs, have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and participate in the jelly bean guess. Prizes will be awarded to all participants, with special honors for the finders of special eggs. The free hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. and is co-sponsored by the Yorktown Lions Club. Somers Library Hosts Theraputic Needle Craft Club
SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Therapeutic Needle Craft Club will meet at the Somers Library on Thursday, March 26. Participants can bring their own projects and supplies for help or in starting a project. Crafts include crochet, knitting, quilting, cross stitch, embroidery and hand sewing. The club will meet in the library conference room from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Advance registration is required. Peekskill Art Students Take Part in 'I'm Tired' Project At Arts Center
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill High School art students recently worked with emerging British artist Paula Akpan. Akpan teamed up with Harriet Evans to produce the "I'm Tired" exhibition, which is currently on display at Hudson Valley Center of Contemporary Arts. For the "I'm Tired" project, students shared what they were "tired of" in relation to everyday micro-aggressions, assumptions and stereotypes. Police Search For Killer On Second Anniversary Of Shelton Teen's Death
SHELTON, Conn. -- The investigation continues into the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in a Shelton driveway two years ago, the Shelton Herald reported. Shelton Police and State Police said on the anniversary of the shooting that they are still looking to make an arrest, the Herald said. The State of Connecticut is offering a reward up to $50,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the homicide of Shelton teen Kristjan Ndoj. TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Trumbull mothers are awaiting the Connecticut General Assembly Public Health Committee's decision on Bill No. 5450, which would grant medical marijuana access to children, according to Trumbull Times. Stamford Woman Gets 10 Years In Plea Deal In Double Fatal Car Accident
STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford woman will be sentenced to 10 years in prison for running a red light and killing her passenger and a Greenwich woman in another vehicle when she returns to court on May 5, according to the Stamford Advocate. Felicia Burl, 33, entered guilty pleas on Tuesday to two charges of manslaughter and single counts of second-degree assault and hindering prosecution, reported the Advocate. Vendor Registration Starts For Beekman Beach Bonanza
BEEKMAN, N.Y. -- Vendor registration for Beekman's upcoming Beach Bonanza Community Day opens March 22. Requests for quotes for services are due March 25. Community Day takes place July 16 from noon to 10 p.m. Last year's event featured fireworks, games and contests, swimming in the lake, a rock wall, a water slide and more. Madava Farms Hosts Maple Weekend
DOVER PLAINS, N.Y. -- Madava Farms will celebrate all things Crown Maple at Maple Weekends on March 19 and 20 and April 2 and 3. Maple Weekends will feature complimentary maple syrup and sugar tastings, as well as maple cotton candy and popcorn. Crown Maple-inspired cocktails and specialty lunch products will also be available for purchase at the café. Patrons can take self-guided tours and learn where maple comes from with tapping demonstrations from farm staff. Tickets are not required.
