ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – Margaret M. Schneider, a resident of Elmwood Park, died Friday, April 15. She was 94.
Born and raised in New York City, she resided in Elmwood Park for 65 years. A faithful parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn, she was a catechist and volunteer with the food pantry. Prior to retiring, she was a registered nurse with Barnert Hospital in Paterson for 25 years.

GARFIELD, N.J. – Grace Szucs, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died Thursday, April 14. She was 94.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Szucs and Andrea Szucs; two sons-in-law, Kevin Doheny and Paul Sisco; two brothers, Anthony Seragusa and Carmelo Seragusa; and five grandchildren, Drew, Jason, Kevin, Jimmy and Jon.

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. – Philip Damato, a resident of Franklin Lakes, died Thursday, April 14. He was 89.
He was born in Paterson and lived in Wyckoff before moving to Franklin Lakes many years ago.
Along with his wife Margaret, they were both longtime parishioners of St. Elizabeth RC Church, Wyckoff. His work ethic was instilled in him at the age of 11 when he began working for his father’s business, Joseph Damato Paperstock Corp., established in Paterson in 1922. RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – Nicolae Ion Velicu, a resident of Ridgewood, died Wednesday, April 13. He was 83.
He was born May 1,1932, in Romania. In his native country, at a young age, he become a renowned skydiver and aviator. Upon completing 2000 jumps, he earned the sport of skydiving’s most prestigious award. In 1962, he participated in the Sixth World Championship of Parachuting in Orange, Mass., representing Romania.

She was born Sept.26,1915, to Louis and Alicia Lintner, in Trenton.
She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas Palazzo.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – John F. Costello, a resident of Wappingers Falls, died Wednesday, April 13. He was 90.
He was born on April 25,1925, in Poughkeepsie to James J. Costello and Anna Hawthorne Costello.
A local resident all his life, he attended Wappinger Central School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served as a signalman first class on board the USS Missouri, when the Japanese formally surrendered.
