James Benson, 72, Of Poughkeepsie POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- James Benson, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, Jan. 29. He was 72.He was born in Highland , N.Y., to James F. Benson and Joan Geenan Benson. Benson was a longtime teacher at Vassar Road School in Poughkeepsie for 37 years, retiring in 2005. He was 81.LeMere was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., on April 29, 1934, to Charles and Katherine Graveline LaMere.  La Mere worked as an accountant for IBM in Poughkeepsie for many years. Later in life he was a home health aide and took care of several people at his home and their residences. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1953-56.
