RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J.–All are invited to bring a blanket and picnic basket while listening to The Waldwick Community Band take the stage in Ridgefield Park on Wednesday, Aug. 10 as the summer concert series continues. Garfield Boys & Girls Club Gets Ready For Back To School
GARFIELD, N.J. -- It's back to school time and applications are being accepted for the after school program at The Boys & Girls Club of Garfield. The club's after school program offers transportation from all schools and runs 2:30.-6:30 p.m. for grades K-8. Children in kindergarten must be six years old to attend.Membership fee is $40. Teaneck Exhibits Work Of Closter Artist With Down Syndrome
TEANECK, N.J. -- A Closter artist with Down Syndrome whose art was exhibited at the Smithsonian is presenting his work through August at the Teaneck Library. Andrew Weatherly's exhibit of painting, poetry and photography will be on display. Artwork is a tool Weatherly uses to advocate for people with disabilities, he said on his website. Could alcohol be the secret to a happy marriage? A new study published in the Journal of Gerontology seems to indicate that could be the case. Lead author Kira S. Birditt said couples who drink are less irritated. The positivity factor only works when both halves of a couple drink. Binge Watching TV Could Kill You, Study Says
Couch potatoes addicted to channel surfing may have more to worry about than too many choices: they could be risking their lives. People who watch television for five or more hours a day are at greater risk of dying from a blood clot in the lungs, according to a Japanese research team from Osaka University. Watching television more than five hours daily increased the risk of a fatal clot by 250 percent.
