YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Singalong with a rock-style band at the Sabbath service on Friday at the Yorktown Jewish Center. Shir Chutzpah will perform during the service Sept. 16 and provide music for the congregation and guests at 7:30 p.m. for a special Sabbath service. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the evening. This is a regular Friday night Sabbath service. UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- Learn how to play one of the fastest growing sports in America on Monday, Sept. 19 at the Upper Saddle River Library. Pickleball is a simple paddle game played using a perforated, slow-moving ball over a tennis-type net on a badminton-sized court. It can be played by just about anyone. Cleanup Time: Teaneck Friends Take On Terhune Park
TEANECK, N.J. -- The community's help is needed for a Teaneck cleanup at the Mary S. Topolsky Garden and Trail on Saturday, Sept. 17.The event is held by Friends of the Hackensack River Greenway through Teaneck Cleanup from 10 a.m.-noon. Participants will be cutting back invasive vines and dead foliage at the Mary S. Topolsky Garden and Trail and its connecting trail in North Terhune Park. OSSINING, N.Y. -- Two Ossining schools are offering morning yoga classes for students and will start their mornings learning downward facing dog, warrior and cat poses as part of a new program funded by the Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation. Help save lives and donate blood at any of the Passaic County locations holding drives in September hosted by the Community Blood Services. Free goodies will be provided to donors. North Arlington Officials: Please Stop Feeding Geese
NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. — It’s against the law in North Arlington to feed the geese and borough health officials are reminding residents to stop the practice in an effort to prevent the waterfowl population from congregating in the community. Canadian geese in particular have grown in population, and create a nuisance to people wishing to use parks and public spaces. The birds are also hazardous to cars forced to stop suddenly when the geese unexpectedly cross busy streets.
