CLIFTON, N.J. -- Wiesław Wszołkowski, of Clifton, died on Dec. 23. He was 58. He was born in Srebrna, Poland on June 28, 1958 to Jan and Jadwiga (Dyszczyk) Wszolkowski. In 1980 Wiesław began traveling to work in the United States. In 1992 he was able to bring the entire family to the United States. They lived in Clifton for over 13 years and then in West Milford for 9 years. After retiring from working at Hayden Roofing and Contracting, he moved to Tafton, PA, where he could enjoy his hobbies of gardening, landscaping and raising his pet chickens. WAYNE, N.J. -- Clarence Smit, of Wayne, died on Dec. 26. He was 94. Born in The Netherlands, he immigrated to the US in 1950 and settled in Wayne before moving to Haledon 10 years ago. He was a self-employed accountant and retired in 2007. He was a member of the Unity Christian Reformed Church, Prospect Park. He is survived by his children, George Smit, Clarence Smit, Florence Wyder, Geri Vooys, Karen Ingenito, Michael Smit, Marilyn Vera and Moses; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six siblings. He is predeceased by his wife, Jeanette Smit, son James Smit and nine siblings.

NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- A police officer witnessed a three-car crash on Banksville Road Dec. 11 while he was on duty assisting multiple disabled vehicles west of Valley Lane.
