Westport Police Seek Help Locating Suspect In Jewelry Store Theft WESTPORT, Conn — The Westport Police Department's Detective Bureau is asking the public for help in identifying a suspect in a Feb. 27 jewelry store theft. Detectives are searching for a man they believe may have stolen a gold and diamond bracelet valued at over $13,500 from a local shop, police said. Gaudett Out, Perez In As Bridgeport Police Chief BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Bridgeport Police Chief Joseph Gaudett resigned Tuesday, and Mayor Joseph P. Ganim will swear in the new chief, Capt. Southport Man Charged In Westport Crash WESTPORT, Conn. — A Southport man faces a drunk-driving charge after he crashed his car into a stone wall on Beachside Avenue in Westport early Sunday, police said. Around 2:45 a.m., a Westport officer observed Daniel Bennewitz, 30, of Old South Road, speeding on Maple Avenue and began to follow him, police said. Wallingford Man Charged In Drunken-Driving Crash In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. — A Wallingford man was arrested Saturday after police said he left the scene of a January accident he caused while driving with a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit. On Jan. 21, at about 7:30 p.m., Westport officers responded to report that a vehicle struck another vehicle on Hillspoint Road and then left the area. Fairfield Man Arrested After Struggle With Elderly Father FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield man was arrested Sunday after he threw his 82-year-old father to the floor and struck him several times, police said. Trumbull Man Charged With Harassing Ex-Fiancee In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Trumbull man was arrested on harassment charges Sunday after he sent several text messages to his ex-fiancee, who has a protective order against him, Fairfield police said. Michael Young, 46, of Barnswallow Road, was charged with second-degree harassment and violation of a protective order, police said. He posted $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Feb. 29. The Fairfield woman told officers she received a series of text messages from Young, the father of her child, which led her to believe he had been in her home, police said.
