Pearl River High Boys 4x400 Relay Team Wins State Title PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- The Pearl River High School boys track and field 4x400M relay team was crowned New York state champions earlier this month.  Students Sean Sorohan, Joe Metcalfe, Brian Flaherty and Thomas Wilson comprised the champion team under coaches Gilby Hawkins and Mike Kiernan.

Route 34 At Stevenson Dam In Monroe Closes For Weekend MONROE, Conn. -- Route 34 at the Stevenson Dam will be closed again this weekend.  The closure will begin on Saturday, June 25, at 6 a.m. and will last until Sunday, June 26 at 11 p.m. A detour will send motorists south on Route 111 to Route 110 heading towards Shelton. Motorists can cross the Derby Bridge to return to Route 34 from there.

Stratford Police Find 3 Businesses Sold Tobacco Products To Minors STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Stratford Police Department recently conducted unannounced compliance inspections of vendors of tobacco products.  The inspections were performed to check compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products to youth under the age of 18.  The 19 inspections were conducted with staff members of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program (TPEP). New Canaan Plans Family Fourth Celebration At Waveny Park NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan's 36th annual Family Fourth celebration will take place at Waveny Park on July 4.  Family Fourth will include a fireworks display, family picnicking, live music, a children's games area and a food court.  Event passes are $35 per car-load for residents and $65 for non-residents.  Passes can be obtained at the Town Hall's Recreation Department Office.
