Two Concerts Coming Up At Danbury's Ives Center
DANBURY, Conn. -- Ives Concert Park will host two concerts during the end of July. The 102nd Army Band will perform "A Salute to Our Nation's Heroes" on Sunday, July 24, at 2 p.m. The band is a National Guard unit stationed in Rockville that performs at sendoff ceremonies for deployed soldiers, the governor's inauguration ceremony, and other ceremonies, military graduations and dinner events. Arcadio Casilas, finance chairman of the New York State Republican Committee, said wealthy donors in New York are warming to supporting the candidacy of presidential nominee Donald Trump, according to lohud.com. Ramapo Central School District Unveils New Transportation Policy
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Hundreds of residents gathered recently at the Ramapo Central School District's board meeting to show support for a new transportation policy, according to Sloatsburg Village. In the 2016-17 academic year, the district will shift from providing deluxe transportation services for non-public school students with multiple start and end times to a bus service policy with one start time and one end time for all children, regardless of where they attend school, Sloatsburg Village reported. Stamford Man Charged With Attacking Girlfriend With Knife
STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man was charged with second-degree assault after allegedly slashing his girlfriend with a knife on Tuesday night, according to the Stamford Advocate. Recardo Williams, 39, allegedly cut his girlfriend with a knife several times following an argument where he ordered her out of his Greenwich Avenue apartment, the Stamford Advocate reported. The victim escaped the apartment through a window and called police, said the Stamford Advocate. WESTON, Conn. -- The Weston Volunteer Fire Department has advised Pokémon Go players to watch their step in the center of town. Players should avoid the Emergency Service Parking and driveway areas of Town Hall. Elmsford Little League Wins New York State Championship
ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- The Elmsford Little League Seniors recently won the New York State Championship. The Elmsford Seniors consist of 15 and 16 year old boys from Greenburgh. They are the first Elmsford Little League team to win the state title. After rallying from an 7-0 deficit to defeat North Tonawanda 8-7, the Seniors secured the title in the second game in a 10-4 victory. The team will now advance to the Eastern Regionals outside of Philadelphia. They will play against the New Jersey State Champions on Friday morning.
