Polar Plunge At Westport's Compo Beach Makes A Big Splash For Charities WESTPORT, Conn. — Nearly 50 excited swimmers gathered on Westport's Compo Beach on New Year's Day, ready to plunge in the freezing waters of Long Island Sound — and all for a good cause. This is the 10th year for the Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Bear Plunge, a charity event held by Temple Israel of Westport. RWS Fills Its Bins With Toys For Tots Donations At Trumbull's Town Hall TRUMBULL, Conn. — Residential Waste Systems joined together with Toys for Tots at Trumbull Town Hall to collect toys for needy children while offering a bit of pre-holiday fun for the kids. At the weekend, kids were able to explore, climbing outside the trucks and sitting inside them while the RWS employees accepted donations of toys. Toys for Tots, founded in 1947 by reservist Maj.
