Bergen County Children In Need Of Mentors
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Volunteer mentors are being sought to assist Bergen County youth who have been removed from neglectful home environments.Each year in Bergen County approximately 600 children are removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or other factors that place them at risk of harm, according to the Bergen Volunteer Center. These children are placed in foster homes, residential facilities, hospitals, shelters or in the care of other family members. TEANECK, N.J. -- Musicians and singers are welcome to celebrate the music of Woodstock on Saturday in Teaneck. August marks 47 years since the original Woodstock music festival Aug. 15–17, 1969 at Yasgur's Farm in Bethel, N.Y. STAMFORD, Conn. -- Students from each of Stamford's three public high schools were named 2016 Merit Scholars. Academy of Information Technology & Engineering graduate Tanusri Balla was named a $2,500 National Merit Scholar. Balla is also a U.S. Presidential Scholar. Closter Advisory: Don't Dump Yard Debris On Woodland Trails
CLOSTER, N.J.– Closter officials are asking for the community's help in maintaining the area's parks and woodlands by not using them as dumping grounds for yard debris. Residents can use the collection site located at the Closter DPW for the disposal of grass clippings, leaves, branches, mulch, fill or any other yard or garden waste or debris, officials said in an advisory notice to residents. RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Cliffhanger Productions presents the final show of the Rutherford summer concert series on Thursday. Jigsaw and Big House, both local bands, will play an eclectic mix of classic rock. The audience can expect to hear all kinds of music from the 60s to the 90s.
