Fair Lawn Water Department Begins Hydrant Flushing Program
FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- A hydrant-flushing program starts overnight in Fair Lawn on Sunday, March 27.The program is part of an ongoing maintenance program to insure the delivery of the highest quality water and is required by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. To minimize inconvenience, this work will be done only between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The flushing program will last about six weeks. Water service will not be interrupted. Blue Russian Cat Missing From Bon Aire Section Of Suffern
SUFFERN, N.Y. -- A year-old Russian Blue cat disappeared from the Bon Aire section of Suffern on Tuesday and is still missing. Nectar has a microchip but no collar. Ridgefield Park Library Offering Guided Meditation
RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Guided meditation and light yoga takes place Saturday at the Ridgefield Park Library. Led by a representative of Art of Living, the class includes light yoga (on floor or on chair) and relaxing breathing techniques. It's appropriate for adults and teens 13 and older. Glen Rock Student Receives $2,000 Grant From Sustainable Jersey
GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Recycling will get an overhaul at Glen Rock High School thanks to a grant from Sustainable Jersey for Schools. Sustainable Jersey announced Wednesday that 34 New Jersey schools were selected to receive a Sustainable Jersey for Schools small grant funded by the PSEG Foundation. Ian Crawford from the Glen Rock High School applied for the $2 grant to reorganize and revamp the recycling program with new bins, better sustainability education and more efficient organization. Upper Saddle River Fire Department Seeks Car Donations For Drills
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- Firefighters from Upper Saddle River practiced stabilization drills on Tuesday.USRFD members made use of a junked car in order to practice vehicle stabilization techniques. The car was flipped onto its roof during the drill. The USRFD is always seeking old junk cars to use during drills like this. WESTWOOD, N.J. -- An assembly for spirit day recently took place at an elementary school in Westwood.Westwood Regional School District’s Jessie F. George School performed a Peer Pals skit highlighting the “Pillar of Character” during the March Spirit Day assembly. The program emphasized that one caring act can make a big difference.
