Man Shot To Death In Capital District On 21st Birthday Police in the Capital District are trying to figure out who shot a man to death on his 21st birthday. Schenectady Police were called at around 11:30 p.m. Monday, May 30, with reports of a man lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds near State and Hulett streets. By the time officers arrived the victim had already been taken to Ellis Hospital by private vehicle, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Suspect Nabbed After Stolen Police SUV Pursuit On New York State Thruway A Capital District man is accused of stealing a police car and then leading officers on a chase down the New York State Thruway. The Schenectady Police Department reported that one of its marked patrol SUVs was taken from Ellis Hospital at around 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 30, by someone they had taken to the facility for evaluation, New York State Police said. Long Island Man Indicted For Possession Of Ghost Guns A Long Island man who allegedly threatened to shoot his wife outside of a children’s hospital has been indicted for possessing so-called ghost guns. East Rockaway resident Thomas Saxton, age 34, was arraigned Wednesday, May 25, on multiple weapons charges, according to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. Capital District Father, Son Indicted For Cocaine Conspiracy A father and son from the Capital District are facing years in prison for allegedly trafficking in cocaine. Jeffrey Civitello Sr., age 50, and Jeffrey Civitello Jr., age 22, both of Schenectady, were indicted on federal charges of trafficking kilograms of cocaine, according to the US Attorney’s Office in the North District. Federal prosecutors claim the duo worked with others to traffic more than 5 kilograms of the drug to Schenectady in March and April 2021. Western Mass Man Indicted For Sex Trafficking Minor A man from Western Massachusetts is accused of prostituting a minor. Hampden County resident Carlos Casillas, age 48, of Springfield, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of sex trafficking a minor, according to the US Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts. Investigators said Casillas caused a child under the age of 18 to engage in a commerical sex act in West Springfield in September 2021. Woman Suffers Medical Emergency, Crashes Car On Long Island A woman is recovering after suffering an apparent medical emergency and crashing her car on Long Island. Emergency crews found the vehicle crashed on Roxbury Lane in Levittown at around 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, Nassau County Police said. Police Warn Of Black Bear Spotted At Cemetery In Capital District Authorities are warning people to be on the lookout after a black bear was spotted hanging around a cemetery in the Capital District.
