15-Year-Old Threatened Violence At Long Island School, Police Say A 15-year-old Long Island boy is accused of making threats against a school in Commack. The teen was arrested after he allegedly threatened violence against Commack Middle School during an Instagram Live session Tuesday, May 31, Suffolk County Police said. He’s now facing charges of making a terrorist threat and aggravated harassment, police said. The boy is not a student at the school, according to investigators. It's unclear what connection, if any, the teen has to the school. His arraignment at Suffolk County Family Court was expected Friday, June 3.

Albany resident Carl Nantista died Monday, May 30, at the age of 67 following a “long, courageous battle” with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, according to his obituary. Ronald Swartz, age 55, of Watervliet, was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison Thursday, June 2, after being convicted on two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child. Investigators said Swartz had sexual contact with a victim under the age of 13 in the Town of Colonie in 2007.
