What A Wonderful World: Cub Scouts Gussy Up 'Den' For Earth Day FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Cub Scout Pack 88 celebrated Earth Day with a little elbow grease Thursday, beautifying the grounds around Jennings Elementary School. Most of the 15 boys who participated attend the school, with others from Assumption and McKinley schools. The boys spent the afternoon spreading mulch, planting flowers and replacing a tree they dubbed “The Tony Tree” in honor of Principal Anthony Vuolo. Good Earth Tree Care donated the mulch and tree and Home Depot matched the PTA-provided funds to buy flowers.

Thief Grabs $1,700 In Items At Fairfield Soccer Match FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A couple who stopped to watch a soccer match at Tom Haydon Field Sunday came back to find their car window broken and items valued at at least $1,700 missing, police said. The victims said they parked their car near the rear of the Old Dam Road parking lot around 11 a.m. When they returned around noon, the window was broken, police said. Missing were a $1,000 Chloé purse and a $200 Rebecca Minkoff wallet containing a license, credit cards and house and car keys, police said. Also stolen were prescription glasses valued at $500, police said.
