Columbus Replicas Drop Anchor In Captain's Cove In Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — History buffs might want to head to Captain’s Cove Seaport this holiday weekend for a couple of blasts from the past. Through Wednesday morning, replicas of the Nina and Pinta, two of Christopher Columbus’ ships, will be docked at the marina. The Nina was built completely by hand without the use of power tools. Archaeology magazine called the ship “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built.” In 2005, the Pinta, also a caravel, was launched in Brazil. On Aug. 5 and 6, the octet will join about 6,200 riders riding up to 192 miles in the Massachusetts-based challenge.
