Police: Bridgeport Gum Bandit Caught In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Bridgeport man was charged with larceny Friday after he stole $83 worth of chewing gum from the Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue in Fairfield, police said. Charles Butler, 44, of Cityview Avenue, was seen leaving the store without paying for several packages of Orbit gum, police said. Approached in the parking lot by a loss prevention employee, Butler fled the scene, stopping to pick up packages of gum that fell out of his pockets as he crossed Tunxis Hill Road, police said. Fairfield Man Charged With Throwing Plate Of Food In Fight With Girlfriend FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield man was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge after he threw a plate of food across his kitchen during a verbal altercation with his girlfriend around 6 p.m. Sunday, police said. Helvin Zumeta-Sanchez, 33, of Massachusetts Avenue, had been arguing with his girlfriend, who told police he has been physically abusive to her in the past, police said. The girlfriend, who lives with Zumetta-Sanchez, was not injured Sunday, police said. Zumeta-Sanchez was released on $500 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Shelton Police Seek Information In String Of Area Burglaries SHELTON, Conn. — Police are asking for the public's help after an early Saturday convenience store burglary that appears to be part of a string of thefts in the region. Police: Frozen Water Bottle Smashes Through Window Of Fairfield Home FAIRFIELD, Conn. — An Old Stratfield Road couple woke at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, when a frozen water bottle came smashing through their bedroom window, police said. Southport Man Found Sitting In Car Faces Narcotics Charges In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Southport man was arrested on several drug charges after officers noticed him sitting in a parked car behind a business at 96 Old Post Road on Saturday night, police said. Jack Mcmahon, 22, of Mill Hill Lane, told police he was having car trouble at 11 p.m., but the officer smelled marijuana, police said.
