Mayor Joe Ganim had pledged to add 100 new recruits upon his re-election in 2015. The couple noticed the pieces were missing and reported it around 2 p.m. Sunday, police said. The set includes 12 place settings, three serving spoons, a cake knife and a pie server, which were wrapped in a blue Tiffany cloth bag in a mahogany box. Bagels employee was fired after she took a deposit bag containing nearly $1,000 from the store — but never made it to the bank, police said. Management at the Black Rock Turnpike shop told police Brittany Hallenbeck 30, of Laurel Avenue, Bridgeport, left with the bag with $984 in cash on Jan. 14. She was terminated Jan. 19, after the money was never deposited, police said. Hallenbeck, who was picked up on a warrant in West Haven on April 9, was charged with fifth-degree larceny, police said.
