Pitch Your Peers Launches Novel Giving Concept for Greenwich
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich's Pitch Your Peers -- an innovative new organization focused on hyper-local philanthropy -- held its launch event Thursday, Feb. 25, at Putnam & Vine, just off Greenwich Avenue.
"To date, 35 women have accepted an invitation to join PYP to fund a transformative grant to give to one local Greenwich charity," said founder Nina Lindia.
In contrast to other grant-funding organizations, PYP has no external request for proposal process. Instead, members pay $1,000 annual dues, which fund the single annual $25,000 grant. The members then pitch and educat…
Gary S. Trause, 51, Carlstadt Resident
CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Gary S. Trause, of Carlstadt and formerly of Wallington, died on Monday, March 7. He was 51.
For 20 years, Trause was a custodian in Alfred S. Faust School in East Rutherford. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 69 in Carlstadt. He was also an avid music enthusiast.
Trause is survived by his children, Candis Trause and Demi Trause; siblings, Guy Trause, Michael Trause and his wife Karyn, and Craig Trause; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Adolph and Joan (Wirth) Trause, and his brother, Richard Trause.

Geraldine Glover Adams, 64, Englewood Resident
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Geraldine Glover Adams -- a lifelong resident of Hackensack and Englewood -- died on Monday, February 29. She was 63.Born in Englewood, Adams' family moved to Teaneck, where she was raised and received her education.
She worked at Friendship House in Hackensack and Stop & Shop in Teaneck, and she also attended the Adult Learning Center of Hackensack, for data entry. Adams was also a member of the Continentals Marching Band of Englewood, which her mother had founded.

LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- Angelina Greco, of Lakewood, died Saturday, March 5. She was 102.
Born in Italy, Greco lived in Jersey City before moving to Lakewood in 2007.
She is survived by her children, Antoinetta Bucci, Domenico Greco, John Greco, Rita Greco and Anna Maria Greco; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Giuseppe, and her daughter, Dora Lafrano.

NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Horace J. Ruiz -- a New City resident, formerly of Pearl River -- died on Monday, March 7. He was 94.
Born in New York City, Ruiz attended Cornell University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for NBC in New York City as a broadcast engineer, where he received five Emmy awards as a technical director.

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Emily L. Gannon -- a Goshen resident, formerly a longtime Spring Valley resident -- died on Sunday, March 6. She was 94.
Gannon is survived by daughter, Linda Gannon of Warwick; son Warren Gannon of Washingtonville; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Seth.
