Benjamin Gibber, 29, of Lakewood, was charged with third-degree creating a false public alarm. Lakewood police announced his arrest in a news release on Friday, Mar. 15. The feral cat was taken in by someone living on Bayview Avenue in Pleasantville, according to the Atlantic County Division of Public Health. The cat had the third confirmed case of rabies in the county of 2024. An animal control officer took the cat from the home on Friday, Mar. 8. Thomas "T.M." Stevens died in his sleep at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 10, musician and performance artist Carrie Beehan said in a Facebook post. Beehan had posted in late February that Stevens was hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs.
