Atlantic City HS Principal Didn't Report Child Abuse Claim By Student: Prosecutors
The principal of Atlantic City High School was accused of failing to properly report a student's claim of being abused by their parents, authorities said. Constance Days-Chapman was charged via summons on Thursday, Mar. 28 with second-degree official misconduct, third-degree hindering apprehension of another, fourth-degree obstruction of justice, and disorderly persons failure to report child abuse. Two Cats Killed In South Jersey House Fire
Two cats were killed when a house caught fire in Ocean County, officials said. Brick Township firefighters responded to the unit in a multi-family building on Northrup Drive at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 27, the Brick Township Fire Safety Bureau said in a news release. The person inside the house got out safely after hearing the smoke detector and no humans were injured. Firefighters had to battle heavy flames due to "excessive storage" inside the home. An Ocean County man was accused of uploading child pornography to the internet, authorities said. Joseph Asfor, 45, of Berkeley Township, was charged on Wednesday, Mar. 27 with possession of child pornography and obstruction of justice. Police in Monmouth County are looking for help finding whoever killed a convenience store owner nearly 30 years ago, authorities said. A man fishing in a kayak was found dead in a Jersey Shore river, authorities said. Diego Ferreira, 37, of Long Branch, was found dead in the Navesink River in Middletown, a state police spokesperson said. A wanted man from Atlantic County was accused of stealing equipment from a tattoo parlor, authorities said.
