CT Congressional Race With National Implications For Party Control Is 'ThisClose' The race for Connecticut's 5th Congressional District between Democratic US Rep. Jahana Hayes and Republican challenger George Logan is still too close to call, with the results containing national implications for which party will control Congress. Housekeeper Stole $25K Worth Of Jewelry From Greenburgh Home, Pawn Shops, Police Say A housekeeper is charged with stealing multiple pieces of jewelry from Westchester County residences and pawn shops, police said. In June 2022, police in Greenburgh started investigating the theft of jewelry worth over $25,000 from a residence in the town, Greenburgh police said. On Tuesday, Nov. 8, police arrested 42-year-old Azra Zecirovic of New Rochelle and charged her with the theft, saying that she was employed by the cleaning company that provided service to the home where the jewelry was stolen from, according to police. Sayegh Emerges Victorious In Close Assembly Race Representing Most Of Yonkers Incumbent Democratic Assemblyman Nader Sayegh was able to hold back Republican Michael Breen to be reelected to represent District 90, which includes parts of Westchester County. Harckham Wins Heated State Senate Race Representing Much Of Northern Westchester After a tight race, New York State Sen. Peter Harckham, D-Lewisboro, emerged victorious and was reelected to represent District 40, which represents much of the region. Harckham, who ran against and defeated Republican candidate Gina Arena, was originally elected to the seat in 2018 and 2020 and will now serve a third term representing citizens of the district, which encompasses much of Northern Westchester, Putnam County, and parts of Dutchess County, according to Ballotpedia. Rawlins “Lito” Joy of White Plains died on Monday, Oct. 24 at the age of 38, according to his obituary. 22-Year-Old Man Shot Multiple Times In New Rochelle, Police Say A Westchester County man is in the hospital after being shot multiple times, police said. On Tuesday, Nov. 8 at around 1 p.m., police responded to a shooting in New Rochelle at 345 Main St. (Route 1), where they found one victim on the sidewalk who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, New Rochelle Police said.
