Convicted Murderer Tries To Have Mom Of His Child Killed In Newburgh, Gets More Jail Time An already-convicted murderer will spend the rest of his life behind bars for attempting to have the mother of his child killed in 2011 in the Hudson Valley, prosecutors announced.  On Monday, Feb. 10, Newburgh resident Cornelius Stubbs, age 53, was sentenced in Orange County Court following his conviction for first-degree attempted murder, the Orange County DA's Office announced. The sentence will run consecutively to a life-without-parole sentence Stubbs is already serving for a separate 2019 murder case. 2-Car Crash Causes Injuries, Lane Closure At Mahopac Intersection A 2-car crash at a Putnam County intersection caused a brief road closure and resulted in injuries, fire crews said. The incident happened on Friday, Feb. 7 at around 3:30 p.m., when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Route 6 and Mount Hope Road in Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department.  One person involved in the crash was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, while the other refused transport.  The lanes from Route 6 to East Lake Boulevard were closed for around a half hour while the vehicles were removed from the road.
