Dog Rescued After Falling In Heating Vent In Green Township: Njsp A dog is safe after they fell into a heating vent in Sussex County on the evening of Friday, Jan. 10, authorities said. At 7:24 p.m.,  officers responded to Hedden Road in Green Township on a report of a dog trapped in ductwork, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Upon arrival, police discovered the small dog had fallen into a heating vent, Lebron said. The dog was safely removed from the vent, and no injuries were reported, Lebron said.

Man Fatally Struck By Vehicle: Elizabeth PD A 79-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Elizabeth on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 9, authorities said. At 10:46 p.m., the man, who has not been identified, was crossing the street at Morris Avenue and Parker Road when he was struck by a white sedan traveling west on Morris Avenue, a spokeswoman for the city said. The man was rushed to Trinitas Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators and no charges have been filed, authorities said.

Woman Left Child Locked In Cold Vehicle At Whippany Wegman's: Police A 42-year-old Rockaway woman was arrested and charged on Monday, Dec. 23 after leaving a child unattended, locked in a vehicle, authorities said.
