Briarcliff Kindergartners Celebrate 100 Days Of School BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- Todd Elementary School's kindergarteners celebrated 100 days in school with a series of hundred-themed activities.  Students wore handmade hats that celebrated the number 100 during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.  Principal Nadine McDermott read “The 100th Day of School” before students lined together in the hallway to demonstrate what 100 people standing together looked like.  The students also sang a song about the 100th day and performed 100-themed activities in class throughout the rest of the day.

Paramus BOE Approves $89 Million Preliminary Budget PARAMUS, N.J. -- The Paramus Board of Education approved a preliminary budget of $89.2 million for the 2016-17 school year March 14, according to The Record. The budget reflects a 2.8 percent spending increase compared to the previous year and will use money in Paramus' capital reserve accounts for various infrastructure projects, The Record reported. Supporters can get a photo with the 42nd president, a resident of Chappaqua since 1999, for $5,400 per couple, and a limited number of seats will be available for $1,000, the report said. National Weather Service Gathers In Dutchess For Skywarn Training POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Dutchess County will host the National Weather Service for Skywarn training on Tuesday. Skywarn is a nationwide network of volunteer weather spotters trained by the National Weather Service.  Training is available for any resident with an interest in becoming a weather spotter.  Training will be held at 392 Creek Road in Hyde Park from 7-9 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Briarcliff Students, Teachers Donate At Winter Blood Drive BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- The Briarcliff High School National Honor Society recently sponsored a blood drive in conjunction with the New York Blood Center. “We tried to get students involved in advance,” said senior Jordana Cohen, co-vice president of the National Honor Society. “A lot of people have been showing up.”  “It’s a really easy thing to do,” said Cohen. “And donating blood could potentially save someone’s life.” The blood drive took place in the high school gymnasium.

Yorktown Teen Charged With Possession Of Marijuana YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A Yorktown Heights man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. The teen was allegedly observed turning without signaling. A subsequent vehicle and traffic stop allegedly revealed 8 grams of marijuana in posession of the defendant. He is also charged with failing to signal, having an expired registration and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The 18-year-old's name is withheld due to possible eligibility for youthful offender status.
