Closter Nature Center Organizes 'Frogs & Amphibians" After-School Program Closter, N.J. -- Kids in pre-k-k can learn about frogs at a special program in April offered by the Closer Nature Center.Participants will scour the forest looking for tadpoles and learning about the life cycle of amphibians.  Classes take place, Tuesdays April 5, 19, 26;   Wednesdays April 6, 20, 27 Thursdays April 7, 21, 28. Frisch School In Paramus Runs Annual Blood Drive PARAMUS, N.J. -- The Frisch School's blood drive held annually in March took place Thursday at the gym. Last year more than 70 students and faculty members donate blood at the school's drive, coordinated with the Central Jersey Blood Center. This year, they hope even more people participate. Ambassadors from each grade helped organize and staff the event, which ran 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Donors were asked a series of questions about their health before giving blood, and after, they were treated to snacks and drinks. Bloomingdale PTA Holds Family Reading Night BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. -- Children and parents filled a church in Bloomingdale for a PTA-sponsored bedtime story event March 24.The Bloomingdale PTA Family Reading Night ran from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, with everyone dressed in comfortable pajamas, and toting favorite blankets and pillows.   As an added bonus, National Waffle Day was celebrated, and participants had a hot meal meal. New Bloomingdale librarian Emily Macleod spearheaded the event and coordinated the creation and reading of stories.  Bloomingdale United Methodist Church is located at 65 Main St.

Fair Lawn Library Welcomes Local Author FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- A local author will give a talk on Thursday at the Fair Lawn Library about her latest book. The library hosts local author, Margie Gelbwasser, as she discusses her writing and Russian/Jewish roots. The talk begins at 7 p.m. and participants are asked to bring in a new teddy bear or backpack to share with a needy child. This is a tie-in with the "One Book, One Community" program ("A Backpack, A Bear and Eight Crates of Vodka") of the Jewish Federation of North Jersey.
