Family-to-Family Class Coming to Ridgefield
RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — A program is offered for family, partners, friends and significant others of adults living with mental illness, starting Feb. 11 at the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Ridgefield. The Family-to-Family Program is a free, 12-session educational program offered by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Classes will be held on Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and taught by trained teachers who are also family members and know what it is like to have a loved one living with mental illness. BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Encouraging people to save money for the future is the spirit behind new legislation recently signed into law. Legislation sponsored by Assembly Democrats Herb Conaway (D-Burlington), Troy Singleton (D-Burlington), Tim Eustace (D-Bergen/Passaic) and Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) allows banks to conduct promotions that encourage consumers to open savings accounts. The new law (formerly A-3868) authorizes state-chartered banks, savings banks, savings and loans and credit unions to conduct savings promotions. WAYNE, NJ - The business administrator of the Wayne Public School District handed in her resignation on Friday, Jan. 15, reports patch.com. Clifton Offers Free Tax Help For Seniors
CLIFTON, N.J. — Senior citizens needing tax assistance can go to the Clifton Public Library twice a week beginning Feb. 8 and get free help. The AARP once again returns to the Allwood Branch of the library to assist seniors and those with low to moderate incomes. Help is available on Mondays and Thursdays beginning Feb. 8 and continuing through April 14. The library is closed on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 15. WALLINGTON, N.J. — William J. Zoon Sr. of Wallington died Jan 17. He was 87. He worked as a draftsman in the aeronautical industry for Bendix and Curtiss Wright. He was an exempt member of Wallington Truck Company No. 1 and coached Babe Ruth Baseball. He was also a 55-year member of the Garfield Masonic Temple. He was a parishioner of the Wallington Presbyterian Church, where he served on many boards, and performed many repairs.
