Traffic Stop Turns Up Firearm In Denville: Police A 36-year-old Morris County man was arrested and charged with improperly transporting a firearm in Denville on Saturday, Jan. 11, authorities said. At 7:42 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop near the 7-Eleven at 45 W Main St., Denville police said. Officers discovered the driver, Daniel Schmidt, a Mountain Lakes resident, was improperly transporting a firearm, police said. Schmidt was ultimately arrested and transported back to Denville Police headquarters for processing, police said. He was charged with a weapons transportation violation and released pending a court date, police said.
