An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Series Of Misfortune: NJ Family Displaced By Fire While Dad Battles Cancer The Piscataway community is coming together to help a family that has been put through the ringer. Sreedhar Chinnapidi, a respiratory therapist, was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing surgery and radiation. While battling cancer, the family's home on Forest Drive was damaged in a three-alarm fire on Monday, Nov. 13. The family has also recently lost their grandmother. Big Winner! Passaic County Lotto Player Takes Home $10K What a way to kick off the weekend. A lottery ticket sold in Hewitt won $10,000 in the Mega Millions drawing held on Friday, Nov. 17. The ticket matched four numbers plus the megaball. The ticket was sold at Jackpocket on Warwick Turnpike. The winning numbers were 6, 12, 31, 33, 69 and the megaball number was 17.

ShopRite Opens In Shuttered Elmwood Park K-Mart Attention, K-Mart shoppers in Bergen County. You have a new place to shop. ShopRite celebrated its grand opening at 180 Broadway in Elmwood Park on Friday, Nov. 17. The location is the site of a former K-Mart, which shuttered in 2018 and was completely rebuilt by ShopRite. The 60,000 square foot store is run by Inserra Supermarkets and features a bakery, prepared food, a butcher, and seafood, deli and floral departments.

Firefighters Battle Heavy Blaze At Skylands Stadium In Sussex County: Authorities An electrical fire caused heavy smoke as firefighters extinguished a two-alarm blaze at Skylands Stadium on Friday, Nov. 17, authorities said. Firefighters responded to a report of heavy smoke at Skylands Stadium and found dark smoke coming from the clubhouse section of the stadium just before 10 p.m., the Franklin Township Fire Department said. Teen Seriously Hurt In Head-On Sussex County Crash An 18-year-old suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash that also injured two people on Route 284 in Wantage Township on the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 18, authorities said.
